Ballot initiative could bring new sports complexes to Little Rock with aim of generating economic development

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- The Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau presented its sports proposal plan Wednesday to several interested business groups in connection to the city’s Results for the Rock November sales tax ballot initiative.

Research conducted by the Sports Facilities Companies helping the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau helped evaluate the exact needs of the athletic community.

“Most citizens that are in sports are traveling to other cities they want to know why they can’t do that here in Little Rock,” Leland Couch with Little Rock Parks and Recreation said.

One of the key findings included that the Sports Events and Travel Association has been tracking the growth of the sports industry, which officials say is expected to grow by $80 billion by 2026 and $53 billion for the youth sports industry.
