LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – This flu season has been rough in Arkansas and nationwide, with thousands of hospitalizations and deaths.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, an estimated 13,000 people have died from the flu. Here in Arkansas, 47 people have died, including one child.

There are many other children with the flu in the state fighting for their lives, including 13-year-old Elsie Littrell.

Elsie is from Rogers and has been at the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock since Saturday.

A day after I went to the gym, I got that tickle in the throat that told me I got something. Next afternoon it was gone..

Pharmacist told me that is how it is supposed to work..

"Rhea said Elsie had not gotten her flu shot this year. . . . The Arkansas Department of Health said out of the 47 flu-related deaths this season, only about 10 were vaccinated."

we ever got our son vaccinated for flu when he was a child. (He left home for college in 2005; we did get the recommended meningitis vaccine for him before he left for college.)

I used to know some Littrells from Rogers when I was in elementary school. I wonder if there's any relation?

At any rate, I hope Elsie pulls through
