Here's what to know about early voting in Arkansas

Voting for Arkansas’ primary and non-partisan judicial elections begins this week. For an increasing number of voters, that’ll mean casting a ballot well before the March 3 Election Day.

Early voting has grown increasingly popular in Arkansas over the last decade. In the 2016 primary election, 32% of ballots cast were early votes, while 42% were cast early in 2024’s, according to the Arkansas Secretary of State’s office.

Early voting begins in Arkansas Tuesday against the backdrop of ongoing debates about who can vote and when. Nearly every state offers some form of early voting, though the duration varies. Republican President Donald Trump has called for an end to early voting and to impose restrictions on absentee balloting via executive order

The president has also called for nationalizing elections in recent weeks, while Republicans in Congress have advanced legislation requiring a passport or birth certificate in most cases to register to vote.
