Conner Eldridge's echo: Where's the choice?

Democratic Senate candidate Conner Eldridge clearly doesn't intend to get stuck in a President Obama bag.

In a statement released to the Associated Press, he channeled the incumbent Republican Sen. John Boozman, whom he's challenging, by saying a Syrian refugee settlement program should be suspended. He says Congress should declare war on the Islamic state. He says ISIS should be "wiped off the face of the earth," He says President Obama has failed to show leadership in foreign policy. Oh, and of course he wants to "take the fight" to the enemy, but isn't ready to commit ground troops. We've been bombing the crap out of ISIS for months, a futile means of eradicating jihadists with soda can bombs if recent events are any measure. He says if we bring peace to Syria then everybody can go home. Refugee problem solved. I"m sure a few drone strikes can do that just as soon as we finish about five centuries of trying to pacify Afghanistan.

But never mind me grumpiness. Eldridge will raise little ire in Arkansas with such remarks, including among many Democrats. But he also won't shake loose a single Republican vote. And even if there really is a "Beebe voter" — nominally without party identification — out there still reachable by a moderate conservative Democrat, what exactly does Eldridge have on offer that differentiates him from Boozman?
