(5,846 posts)I find it more annoying than rain, sleet or snow. Well, maybe not sleet.

(9,893 posts)I dont quite remember a spring like this. The last couple of years have been more windy, but this year there's just no escape.
Unlike the last few years this is also a very dry spring as well - April was on track to be the driest on record with no rain till the last days of the month.
And I was thinking it was just a fluke till your post.

I've lived here in the North Bay for coming up 50 years, and we have never ever experienced dry, cold windy weather every single day during the months of April and May. It's weird, it's disconcerting, and it's also scary.
Concerned enough because this is the driest year we've had in some time.

(37,101 posts)I get nervous and itchy when it blows. And of late, I've been nervous and itchy EVERY day!
In Southern California, they call it the Santa Ana wind, Santa Anas, and even the Santana. Raymond Chandler described it in the best opening paragraph in gum shoe literature, bar none
There was a desert wind blowing that night. It was one of those hot dry Santa Anas that come down through the mountain passes and curl your hair and make your nerves jump and your skin itch. On nights like that every booze party ends in a fight. Meek little wives feel the edge of the carving knife and study their husbands' necks. Anything can happen. You can even get a full glass of beer at a cocktail lounge.
