A lot of people in CA are living on the edge of affordability in their housing, and this is just another gut-punch with no explanation besides gouging. There was a recent interview with a local industry expert, and he says there is absolutely no explanation for the price at the gas pump because he knows the exact price of the gas when it leaves the refinery. It's suspected they're artificially holding back supply to jack the price up. But honestly, I don't even see a supply issue. I've seen exactly zero reports of stations not being able to obtain gas. They're just charging sky-high prices.

Time for a serious criminal investigation, rather than just empty threats.
