Karen Bass drew more votes than any mayor candidate in L.A. history

L.A.Times
Bass took advantage of the new political landscape to drub her rival, notching a nearly 10-percentage-point margin. Nearly 928,000 Angelenos cast votes for mayor, surpassing the previous high of 856,000 in the transformative, racially polarizing race in 1969, when the white incumbent, Sam Yorty, defeated his Black challenger, Councilman Tom Bradley.

With L.A.'s population a full 1 million under the 3.8 million it is today — and the total of registered voters only half the 2.2 million of today — the 1969 race drew an astonishing 76% turnout; this year’s Bass-Caruso matchup will be about 45%, according to county election officials.

Bass made history last week when she became the first woman elected mayor in L.A.’s 241-year history. Her vote total of 508,860 as of this week is already the highest ever for the city’s top job, and is more than double the number Eric Garcetti received when he became mayor in 2013.

And just turned into a Dem very recently. His answer to homelessness was to put the homeless in JAIL.

And he was giving money very recently to anti-abortion groups by the truck loads. And some of these jack asses here like Snoop Dog, Gwenneth Paltrow, Katy Perry and several more high profile Dems who supported this mall-loving asshole. I don't count Kim Kartrashian, because she's a rich woman who got her money on her back, and who steals black culture and makes tons of money off of it, which makes her a 'culture vulture.'

Did you miss the clusterfuck in New York, and how many seats they lost on the Island? This part of the USA is solid BLUE from top to bottom up and down the coast. The saving grace is that the GQP US Taliban Party will not have the majority for he full 2 years. I see some indictments coming those insurrectionists way, and some of them will have to GO.

The DCCC leader lost.
Let that sink in. I have relatives who live in jamacia Queens who told me 2 months ago that the Dems were in trouble, not Governor Kathy Hochul.

I like Maloney, but he spent too much time vacationing, and then "What had happened" was that there was this fight that idiot Mario Cuomo had with progressives, a right-winged judge and redistricting

I don't like Politico, but:

A red wave for New York House seats.

If Democrats lose theirHouse majority, it may be New York that did them.

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Billionaire developer Rick Caruso spent $162 for each vote he received in his Los Angeles mayoral campaign, according to Crosstown LA, a nonprofit news organization based at the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.

Caruso, who was defeated by Rep. Karen Bass in a mayoral race on which he spent a total of over $100 million, is projected to receive around 421,383 votes, according to Crosstown LA. The report found that Bass spent $10 per vote, a fraction of Caruso's spending.
