The Head Fire is burning in Siskiyou County and has caused authorities to issue evacuations in the nearby areas.

The Siskiyou County Sheriff's Office issued evacuation orders for the Head Fire, which is burning near the confluence of the Klamath and Scott Rivers.

The interesting thing is the Calfire map doesn't show anything called the Head Fire. There are several fires in the area called Lightning Complex Fires, perhaps it is part of one of those.

Here's a link to the Calfire Incident map:

It didn't have any rain to go with it however.

Lots of rattling and a 3.8 quake to go with it.

No sign of any smoke.

and there were some lightning strikes yesterday and overnight in the Mendocino Forest. The Calfire map doesn't show any fires there, so I'm assuming if any fires were started they were controlled or put out quickly.

In fact I've yet to see one in residential areas of northern Humboldt.

I hope it stays that way!

There are many other fires in the Klamath Mountains and several days of thunder and lightning but today cooled, rained, and had clou and smoke cover blocking light and cooling the ambient air.

One can scan the fires on watchduty and click and find current conditions, usually from several sources.
