First, it's almost guaranteed to backfire. It doesn't generate sympathy - in fact, it does the opposite - and it doesn't target the people who can actually affect change.
Second, it can cause real harm. If traffic is blocked and law enforcement isn't notified, emergency vehicles can't be re-routed. I, for one, don't want to live under the kind of idealogical purity that accepts the occasional death because an ambulance couldn't get through.
I don't care what the cause is. Blocking traffic is stupid.
No one has the right or need to block traffic. Period. Your first amendment rights *END* when you are preventing people from getting to their job or a hospital.
