King City moves forward with ballot measure to raise the city's sales tax

KING CITY, Calif. (KION-TV) - Voters in King City will soon have to decide whether or not the city's sales tax will increase in 2025.

On Tuesday, city council unanimously decided to move forward with a ballot measure to increase that sales tax. Currently, the city's sales tax is 1%, which could increase to 1.5% if the ballot measure is passed in November.

City officials say that increased revenue would be used to help fund various city services such as police and public works, staffing, and road maintenance.

According to the city it’s a 12-year plan that would bring in about $1.2 million in additional revenue each year.
