If Alameda County DA Pamela Price is recalled in November, what happens next?

For the first time in Alameda County history, county voters will decide next month whether to remove the district attorney from office.

The recall vote will happen two years after 53% of county voters elected District Attorney Pamela Price, a former civil rights attorney who promised to reform the county’s criminal justice system. To do that, Price pledged to seek shorter sentences, reduce mass incarceration and prosecute police officers for misconduct.....

Barring a recall, Price’s term would end in 2028.

If Price is recalled, the Board of Supervisors will appoint a temporary successor, who will hold office until the next general election in 2026, when voters will elect a new district attorney. The chosen candidate will serve the rest of the term.
