Shasta County election results: Voters reject Measure P, Measure Q

Shasta County voters turned down two local measures on Election Day, one by a wide margin and the other by just a few hundred votes.

Measure Q would have revamped how open positions could be filled if one of Shasta County's six elected department heads left office before the end of their term.

The second item to go down in defeat, Measure P, would have changed the county's charter governing eminent domain policy.

Measure Q was rejected by more than 13,600 votes, with 58.52% of people voting no, according to final election results released early Wednesday by the Shasta County elections office.
