Tabor vs. reality & hospital provider fee

This is one of the bigger issues for the Colorado legislative session in 2016.

Reality is that the hospital provider fee will collect $750 million this year to help thousands of Coloradoans with their health care. Reality is that the state is providing a new service and this revenue is needed for that service. If this money is included in the regular budget, the Tabor limits come into play and other areas of the state budget will need to be cut to insure that we stay below the Tabor limits. If the state can categorize this money outside of the Tabor limits, other areas of the state's budget won't need to be cut for this artificial Tabor limit.

The Koch brothers and other conservative groups are actively working to effectively steal this money by insisting that the money be included in the state's regular budget. Then they'll get an undeserved refund while our roads, k-12 education, and higher education are cut.
