State Rep. Tim Leonard released from jail for contempt

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. – After a two-week stint in jail, Colorado State Representative Tim Leonard was released Friday.

Rep. Leonard, R-Evergreen, was being held at the Jefferson County Jail on contempt of court charges, which stems from divorce proceeding that started in 2012. The contempt charge dealt with violating the judge orders as it related to schooling decisions for his children.

Leonard did not have a comment when asked by a Denver7 photographer about his stay in jail.

Leonard and his wife were divorced in 2013, but their family legal struggles have dragged on for more than four years.
