Man accused of vandalizing Fort Collins Islamic Center expected to enter plea next month

FORT COLLINS — The man accused of vandalizing the Fort Collins Islamic Center south of Colorado State University's campus in March will likely enter a plea at a hearing next month.

Joseph Giaquinto, a 35-year-old Fort Collins resident, was arrested March 27 after Fort Collins police used surveillance footage from the mosque to connect him with the broken windows and damage inside the building discovered early the morning before, according to an arrest affidavit.

The security video also showed a man reappearing at the mosque after breaking its windows and tossing a Bible inside the building.

The affidavit also said that Giaquinto admitted to police that he caused the damage and left the scene to return with the Bible.
