Sunday in the park with Cory
Senator Cory Gardner will be at Greeley's Arts Picnic this weekend. Or, more precisely, his likeness will be there. The man is not big on being in the vicinity of his constituents; in fact, its going on 500 days since his last face-to-face town hall.
The members of the local Indivisible group decided to do something about that, and they and Cardboard Cory are making the rounds. The senator is showing up at schools, clinics, the hospital, even at the local Planned Parenthood (!); in each case he is accompanied by no comment which, if memory serves, is pretty much a concise version of his wordy but empty standard email responses to constituents who write to him about subjects that are not discussed in the responses.
So back to the Arts Picnic thing. The GI team, endeavoring to keep everything on the up and up, sought permission from the city to squire the paper politico at the event. Understanding that they would likely be asked to carry on outside the boundaries of the park, they were delighted when permission was granted. This is rather a big deal, seeing as how Greeley is in a reliably red part of the state, where even voter registration volunteers have been asked to stay out. So, yes, Wow! is warranted.
