One recall goes away. However...

A while back I posted here about a recall effort against our state legislator. Shortly thereafter, she abruptly resigned. As it turns out, the reasons for her resignation have nothing to do with the "reasons" behind the recall effort. Needless to say, we are stunned and profoundly disappointed in someone we'd worked damned hard to elect. We will shortly choose someone to fill that seat for the remainder of her term, her resignation putting an end to the recall; by law, the party will replace her, the seat remains Democratic.

Suffice it to say, Weld County is deeply red as far as elected positions go. District 50 is a rarity with majority Democrats. Not surprisingly, we are already hearing broadbrush smears against all Dems due to this resignation. It's gonna be a long, ugly campaign season.
