https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colorado's_4th_congressional_district

When they restructured it after the 2010 census, they left Longmont (where I live, outside of Boulder) in the district, but got rid of Fort Collins, thus diluting the Democratic influence. Basically all of Eastern Colorado, but skipping every remotely big city they could (when Wikipedia refers to Greeley, Longmont, Castle Rock, and Parker as the only large cities in the district, I had to laugh). Apparently when Marilyn Musgrave got beaten in 2008 as part of the Obama wave, the Repubes wanted to make sure it couldn't happen again.

In 2016, the Boulder County piece of CD4 voted for the Democrat 53% to 41%, which only provided a margin of about 6K votes (out of about 45K votes total). Buck won the election by 125K votes. If every Longmont vote had gone to Buck's opponent - Buck still would have won. They carved him out a virtually un-loseable district.

The government isn't going to be taking away your silly looking gun, but if they did, they wouldn't send Beto or Joe to do it. They'd send heavily armed and armored youngsters, and you'd hand the thing over while peeing in your pants.
