Voted in R primary to vote against extremists like Perdue, Hice, Walker.

I'm sure Boebert has alienated many Independents and won't get as many votes as two years ago. That's why I don't switch parties for the primaries.

your precinct and county leaders can't ID you as a Democrat.

Texas has open registration so we are free to choose either primary. People from both parties vote in the other party's primaries because they think they can make a difference. In a state as large as this one, there are never enough of those votes to swing an election.

Since we do not register by party, we don't have a list of known Democrats. Instead, precinct chairs and county party officials have to play detective to find loyal Democrats! There are a number of dyed in the wool Democrats in my precinct who do not show up on database searches because they never vote in primaries. County and precinct volunteers are constantly trying to find solid Democratic voters who can help get out the vote at election time.

unless you declare to switch party affiliation. I don't like it. You should support your party and it's selection process. It used to be only Dems or Repubs could vote and only in their party's primary. That is the way it should be to avoid hanky panky. And if you vote for a third party or independent in the general election, you are sure to lose.

When I was young in Texas the most important election was the Democratic primary because Democrats always won the general election. That was a long time ago before a guy named John Tower upended it all.

If I ever move somewhere where it makes a difference, I'll register as a Democrat again, but for now, I'm playing the game by the rules presented to me.

Half the local positions don't even have a Democratic challenger, so I'm not sure what your point is. Whoever does win the Dem primary will get my vote in the general election, and then Coram will be our new congressman. It is what it is.
