Visit to Ouray and Telluride.

My sis from North Florida is in town and I took her down to Ouray for one night and Telluride for two. I haven't been down there in at least fifteen years. It is still beautiful; the weather is cool. We saw a bear, loads of mule deer, and a bald eagle. We enjoyed the hot springs in Ouray and the FREE gondola in Telluride. It is something of a long drive from Boulder, but well worth it. I recommend! This is a remarkable state.

Before going to higher elevations. That, and staying super-hydrated seems to help. You never know, though. I once visited Breckenridge and got altitude sickness and I live at about 6,000 feet. I didn't realize it was altitude sickness until I got back down to Boulder and realized I was "cured" from that sudden flu. Breckenridge is only about 9,500 ft.

If so, did that bridge repair west of Montrose cause you any issues?

Or were you able to cut through a different way?

I ask as my son goes to Western, and one of his athletic events last month held in GJ caused them to have drive around, and I want to drive over to Ouray this summer from Denver metro.

There were signs out around Grand Junction that 550 was closed, but it wasn't. We went around Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Years ago, my then hubby and I explored BCOTG and I found it breath-taking.
