2024 CHAFFEE HOUSING INITIATIVE ADVOCATES FOR CHA'S TWO UPCOMING BALLOT MEASURES AT BV COMMUNITY COFFEE
2024 Chaffee Housing Initiative representative (and Deerhammer Distillery owner) Amy Eckstein spoke at the monthly Buena Vista (BV) Community Coffee on the morning of Wednesday, July 7. Eckstein outlined the two ballot questions, which will be appearing for locals to vote on this November related to funding sources for the Chaffee Housing Authority (CHA).
The CHA is a multi-jurisdictional organization formed in 2020 through a joint agreement between Chaffee County, the City of Salida, and the Town of Buena Vista. The organizations goal is to increase access to affordable housing in the county.
The housing situation is out of control, so we believe money will help us put the foot on the gas and really bring some relief to locals, said Eckstein Wednesday morning.
According to the CHA website, By the end of 2024, CHAs goal is to add 75 deed-restricted, rental units (13.6 percent of the 2027 need identified in the 2022 Housing Needs Assessment prepared by CHA) to Chaffee County by constructing Janes Place and supporting the lease-up of The Midland Apartments (formerly known as Carbonate Street) in partnership with Fading West.
