How many ballots have been cast in Colorado so far?

DENVER (KDVR) — Voting centers and drop boxes opened in Colorado on Monday, with thousands of people already casting their votes both in Denver and in cities across the state.

Voter turnout so far has been lower than in the general election in 2020, with 637,597 ballots cast in Colorado as of Wednesday.

By this time in 2020, a little over 1.26 million ballots had been returned. This is about double the number returned so far in 2024.

There were slightly fewer registered voters in the state in 2020, approximately 4.1 million versus 4.5 million in 2024, according to Secretary of State data.

before voting. I hope that they will not find it overwhelming--or if they do, they will at least vote on the candidates (not that that would not be devastating to some very important ballot proposals). The fact the ballots were received after the formerly Columbus Day holiday (and late on that day when people were heading back to work) may be impacting too. Hopefully, a lot will be returned to the many ballot boxes this week. SOS Griswold indicated an increase in new voter registrations of approximately 160K so it doesn't seem as though there is not an increased demand.
