Charter revisions will be on ballot in Shelton for the third time in last five years

SHELTON — Charter revision proposals, including increasing the majority party maximums on the Board of Education and creating a city technology committee, will be back on the ballot in November.

The Board of Aldermen, at a special meeting Monday, accepted the Charter Revision Commission’s recommended revisions, which will go back before voters on Election Day, Nov. 5, in the form of two questions. One question will focus on the proposed change in potential party split from 5-4 to 6-3 on the Board of Education. The second will be on the remainder of the proposed charter changes.

This will be the third charter revision attempt in five years, with both previous attempts sparking opposition before being defeated by voters, the first in 2020 and most recently in November 2023.
