Special elections Saturday in 2 State Senate districts; early voting completed

Polling places will be open Saturday in two State Senate districts for a special election. Ten days of early voting wrapped up Thursday.

Sarah McBride's election to Congress in the First District left a vacancy. Lieutenant Governor Kyle Evans Gay previously was Senator in District Five.

According to the Delaware Department of Elections, more than 2,000 early votes were cast in the Fifth District, and nearly 1,300 residents in the First District voted early.

Absentee Ballots are still being counted, and must be received by the Department of Elections at the Carvel State office building by 8:00 p.m. Saturday. Absentee ballots will not be accepted at polling places.
