D.C. sets record for most super-rainy days in one year.

Monday’s storm dropped at least two inches of rain, the seventh time that has happened in 2020.

'November 30, 2020 at 4:08 p.m. EST

Rain poured down in sheets for much of the first half of Monday, enough for Washington to tally 2.39 inches, a record for the date.

This is also the seventh time in 2020 that the city has had at least two inches of rain in one day. That’s a record for a calendar year, surpassing the previous mark of six such days in 1886 and 1878.'

It is either raining or things are all wet because it just stopped. I've never paid attention before. I noticed because here in the dry West there are times when you would just love to see it rain knowing it's just not going to, till it is good and ready.

Is it really that much wetter this year in D.C. than other years?

On edit: I just looked and it seems so far this year is a bit over 6 inches above average (39.74 inches).

I marvel at the total rainfall values compared to ours though. We average about 12"/year. Can't say we've ever had more than 2" a day.

To have 7 events, so far, of more than 2" a day, not seen in 134 years says a lot.
