Winter solstice: There's beauty in the darkest day of the year.

It’s time to celebrate the return of the light.

There’s something enchanting about the winter solstice, which arrives this weekend and marks our longest night of the year here in the Northern Hemisphere.

Winter Solstice to me is that it means the longer day count can begin. I don't like the shorter days and look forward to each longer one. I check the clock when it gets dark to note each incremental move to longer daylight hours as it occurs.

By the time of the summer solstice and daylight savings time, I am ecstatic.
