If youre a snow lover, the way-too-long wait is nearly over. Winter wonderland is basically guaranteed on Sunday! Question marks with the storm thereafter.

(34,195 posts)1. Do the national guard troops have to stay outdoors?
Or are they quartered inside?

(135,876 posts)2. Haven't heard. Been very cold (and windy.)
Prolly quartered indoors.

(46,929 posts)3. They are quartered in hotels while not on shift
It's brutal for them to be outside for 12 hour shifts. They can often take their breaks indoors or inside a vehicle to warm up a bit. It's still pretty rough.

(34,195 posts)4. So they're not using the garages anymore?
IronLionZion
(46,929 posts)5. The garages were while they were on breaks during their 12 hour shift
and it was to keep warm since it's cold outside, especially overnight. They also take breaks inside buildings like the capitol or white house or whatever is nearby and has available space. Local restaurants and people have given them free food and coffee. Our city is very grateful that the national guard are here.
