(2,396 posts)I live in Portland OR, where it was pretty devastating to hundreds of thousands without power and the like due to downed power lines, trees falling on substations, transformers blowing up. But it's nothing like what's happening in TX.
Anyway, I thought these were just local storms til this post prompted me to look a little further. It turns out to be Winter Storm Uri, which blew my mind because I never heard of a coast to coast winter storm with a name!
Well, at least I know what's going on now. I hope everything goes okay, under the circumstances.
