Bowser Declares Snow Emergency; DC Schools Open Virtually

WASHINGTON, DC — Mayor Muriel Bowser declared a snow emergency for the District on Thursday due to inclement weather. In addition, D.C. Public Schools will be closed for in-person learning, but students will be studying virtually and following their normal class schedule.

D.C. Government offices will be open, with non-essential and non-emergency employees teleworking. Unless otherwise directed, essential employees are expected to report to work as normal.

All federal offices in the D.C. area are closed, according to the Office of Personnel Management. Emergency employees and telework employees are expected to continue working as scheduled.

All public COVID-19 testing sites will be closed on Thursday. Public COVID-19 vaccination sites will be open, including vaccination sites and Department of Parks and Recreation facilities.
