I've been past this on an H6 Metrobus (it runs between Fort Lincoln and Brookland-CUA), but I've never been on the grounds.

***Due to the COVID pandemic, there are no plans at this time to reopen the Monastery. Our gardens remain open daily, 9am-5pm and our event venue, St. Francis Hall, is open for rentals following city guidelines. Please check back regularly for any updates***
Discover a different D.C.! The Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America has been named one of the Top 5 places most tourists miss when sightseeing in Washington, D.C. We invite you to take a break from the museums, monuments, and memorials and make a pilgrimage to the Franciscan Monastery to take in the beauty of our gardens, find peace in the Monastery church and among the replicas of Holy Land shrines, attend a concert or event, or learn about the Franciscans work in the holy land. This is a free attraction that is easily seen by foot, and its one of the best natural views in the district!

ENJOY THE GARDENS
Enjoy the outdoors and Gods creation by walking the recreation trail through our century-old gardens with replicas of sacred shrines, roses and many native plants; you can also volunteer in our vegetable garden.

(24,183 posts)We just need the US to be a little further down the road to herd immunity before we travel that far, before we go to an airport or large hotel type place again.

(8,831 posts)Used to go to the Outdoor Stations of the Cross there on Good Friday and once reopened after Covid, the church itself is beautiful. In the old days ( a long time ago) we would go to mass there then COL Brooks tavern for brunch. COL Brooks is all gone and Brooklnd has changed some but still the best neighborhood in the city.
