Restoration Movement news for Saturday, July 23, 2022

Still camping out on the National Mall, there appears to be a coronavirus outbreak among members of the 1776 Restoration Movement, formerly the People's Convoy. It's gotten so bad that the group's leader is now suggesting convoy-goers get tested for Covid-19.

Quick recap:
"1776 Restoration Movement"
rump remnant of The People's Convoy, now led by a 2nd degree proud boy, who flashed a PB medallion at his court appearance
3 have been arrested since July 4 (assault on counter-demonstrator, blocking an interstate)
J6ers in their mix
convicted sex offenders camping with children
trying for an Ottawa-style occupation of DC
harassing citizens with airhorns and megaphones
camping out a couple blocks from the Capitol
"marching" on Capitol with pole flags
harassing J6 witness
sanitation and public health issues

And they now claim to have a NPS permit for a "vigil".

It's tempting to dismiss them as pathetic clowns, but some have made the same dismissal of Jan 6 (shaman clown). They could be embedding serious actors among the distracting camera fodder.

I went for a walk yesterday afternoon in northern Virginia. Yikes.

10:10a: Some clouds have slowed the temperature rise in the DC area the past couple of hours. But they are clearing now so look for temps, currently in the low to mid-80s, to shoot up to near 90 by or before noontime.

idling and running the AC, I think. But they also "marched" on the Capitol with pole flags again.

Still, there are vulnerable people there who are at risk. One of their elderly fans had a medical issue after speaking at their Berkeley Springs WV rally. Refused ambulance, went back home. I think he died soon after. Just a coincidence.
