Florida has had a two-week trend of rising cases

Florida reports almost 4,500 new COVID-19 cases

Florida’s COVID-19 case numbers are still heading up, as state health officials on Saturday said another 4,471 people have been infected.

That’s an increase from 3,689 new cases tallied the previous day, and it also exceeds last Saturday’s report of 4,044 cases. The state reported 5,558 new cases on Thursday, the most since mid-August.

After a stable September and early October, the state has had a two-week trend of rising cases. Florida also has recorded an increase in COVID-19 test results in recent days, pushing the case totals higher.

The state Department of Health on Saturday also reported an additional 77 resident deaths linked to COVID-19 complications. Officials don’t specify whether the fatalities involve any underlying health issues.
