Fired DOH scientist Rebekah Jones arrested on felony computer charge, state sought computer ban

Rebekah Jones, the fired Florida Department of Health data scientist-turned-whistleblower, turned herself in to police late on Sunday night to face a felony charge and a possible ban on using computers and the internet as a condition for release on bond, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement said Monday.

"Jones turned herself into the Leon County Detention Facility," the FDLE news release said. Court records show she turned herself in at 11:16 p.m.

The FDLE in their arrest warrant affidavit suggested bond conditions of "no computer access, no internet access, and no contact with the witnesses or those people whose personal information was acquired through the download."

Jones appeared before the court late Monday morning, and the judge set her bond at $2,500. The court rejected the request to bar Jones from using the internet and computers. The judge also rejected FDLE's request to outfit Jones with a GPS tracking device.

I remember in the turbulent land development problems of the 90s they also tried to gag government employees. I think there were twins that were gagged. Does anyone remember the Rich brothers?

Does setting the bond at $2,500 mean she only had to post $250?
And they wanted an ankle monitor??? Assholes!
