Related: About this forumI have done a lot of vaccine complaining here. I finally have appointments
via the Pinellas County Health Department. First next Tuesday, the second on 3/16. Unfortunately, due to confusing messages, my wife got on their big list eight days after I did.

(4,298 posts)I was able to get through on the Publix site after many tries and got my first vaccination a couple of weeks ago. I had to drive about 40 minutes away.

(34,075 posts)Sheltered in place, I have not had a cold or runny nose this year. That's a first for me.

(43,201 posts)I've been on the Polk County list since Jan 26. I'm 77 and have three comorbidities. I check my status online from time to time and it never changes. Just says "waiting on list". Thanks.

(30,288 posts)If you have comorbidities can't your doctor help?

(43,201 posts)I've been a shut-in for a year like all the rest of us. I can wait a little longer.

(778 posts)Right now the site says that if you signed up before Jan. 17th and have not yet gotten a call, contact them. Also There are usually about 1,500 given to Lakeland Regional every week and they are supposed to be coordinating with doctors to have people with pre-existing conditions vaccinated. Are they doing it fairly? Probably about as fairly as the rest of this has gone and that isn't saying much. We have been on the same list since January 24th, I believe. We were contacted about a week ago, but they wanted us to drive about an hour away and that is so weird since one of our preferences was that we wanted it to be close.

(778 posts)I thought about you when I heard the news story about the federal government setting up a site in Pinellas County for a day or two. Also Tampa area will start getting Federal help March 3rd. Let us know how things go for you. Everyone that we have talked to has turned out fine after their first shot.

(778 posts)That you had previously said you didn't get to make the appointments together. We were allowed to make our own appointment plus one more. I still think I signed up the Sunday before I previously stated and just wrote it on the calendar wrong, but I don't know. I was tired of trying to call, but once they opened the phone lines over the weekend, I was easily able to get through which saved me from having to go to the website to sign up. The problem with that is, since I didn't register online, I supposedly cannot check my status.
March 3rd is when FEMA will be opening up in Tampa so you're right. It is definitely something to keep your eyes on for those who haven't been called yet.
I read an article this morning that said Hillsborough and Pinellas both got their vaccine last week because they get Pfizer. My County gets moderna and we did not get the shipment, but at the end of the week they think they got approximately half of what they were supposed to get and are expecting the other half plus the full stache for the coming week. Fingers crossed for all of us.

(30,288 posts)Signing up then was just supposed to be a time-saver if and when you got through. My wife put it off until just before the next stampede.
Thanks for the information regarding the vaccine. I didn't know which kind I'd be getting.

(30,288 posts)You can check your email and see the date you got on it. I can't remember if I mentioned I have to drive to Largo in the OP. I used to commute that five days a week and driving with music is better than watch 60 seconds count down over and over again at the crack of dawn. FEMA has a site in Tampa, you could try there if you are up to the drive.

(778 posts)I didn't get the confirmation email I was supposed to get. But I did write down the numbers she assigned to us and it all seems to still be in the system.
