I've checked out one solar company in FL and they were way too expensive.

And when I think of it - my house is small and it seems as if to put a bunch of solar panels on my roof would not be that big of a deal. They wanted to charge me $30k!

I've thought about trying to get some people together to make some sort of co-op thing to put solar panels on houses. Apparently if you get enough you can get your electric bill down to $20/month.

And after this heat wave in the NW I am thinking about it again even though I want to move. It might make my house more valuable and I feel like it is the right thing to do.

BUT I will not put my name on anything again that says, "Free solar quote" or anything like that. I am so tired of people blowing my phone up trying to sell me things.

Anyway, just putting this out here in case anyone has any other ideas. Solar should be a FL thing with the amount of sunshine we have here.

are scam operations. I am not sure how to sort the legit ones from the scams.

I went to an eco resort in Portugal a couple years ago and the whole thing was solar. We stayed in little cabins and each had an AC/heater thing that worked fine and anytime we were inside it was very comfortable.

I hope these heat waves wake some people up.

On what you would save on your elect bill.

The conversation would be over as soon as they dropped that number if it was me.

5. so there used to be tax breaks if you installed solar panels.

As a matter of fact, its the pitch most of these companies make. I believe that most of these tax breaks expired during the Trump regime. Its worth looking at. If there are significant tax breaks, this could offset most of the installation cost. Better talk to a tax accountant first before believing the solar companies of course.

Here is an interesting article about solar companies scams :

google voice phone number with guys like that.. You can block them easy... As for the solar panels, try getting on a solar electricity forum. They usually have the leads to good deals..
My only worry in Fla (I'm in west central fla) is the wind. How strong are they to hold up to 125 mph winds?
