...what hobby groups in the area are most likely to attract people with progressive ideals? I was googling groups that interested me, trying to research the membership, and I'm so traumatized by the crazy things I've seen in Central Florida that the first thought that crossed my mind when I saw group photos of white males and women was, "MAGAs!"
Sadly, if I joined a club and discovered it was populated by conservative men and/or women, I would probably back out. Would be nice if there were lists or reviews out there to help us save the time.

(38,958 posts)And the hobby itself (historical tabletop miniatures gaming) attracts the more conservative minded. I sometimes have trouble with what is said but not lately as I have stepped back from the group to avoid Covid. A subset of our happy go lucky group seems to not believe in wearing masks 😷. So for now I just do other things.

Now, I realize how utterly dull their conversations are. It's like I've been hearing the same conversation for my entire life. Until Trump appeared, something always felt off by their measured civility. And now that their racism is all out in the open it's like, Nope. Not going to happen
