Tornado causes damage in South Florida

FORT MYERS, Fla. (WPEC) — Parts of South Florida are picking up the pieces after a tornado touched down Sunday as part of a strong Southeast winter storm.

The National Weather Service confirms the tornado struck Lee County, leaving thousands without power and over 100 homes damaged. Video captured from College Pkwy in Fort Myers shows a tornado moving through the community early Sunday.

In Clearwater, the storms caused portions of stucco to fall off the Bank of America building and into the streets below, according to police.

Collier County saw at least one tornado, according to the National Weather Service.
