Well. This should prove interesting. It looks like Florida, or at least Miami Beach, is very actively trying to discourage the annual horde of drunken students who drink, dance and copulate, often in public. Popular opinion seems to be that the party will continue.

I'm really not a germaphobe, but the nature of that place makes me squeamish.

(14,651 posts)First it was Ft Lauderdale in the 1960's but after a few years the city said it cost more to police the kids than it was worth so they were banned. The "kids" then went to Daytona Beach, Then Jacksonville, back to Miami then back to Ft Lauderdale.
The cities like the money the college kids bring in but don't like the insanity
