Jan. 6 'Lectern guy' to run for local office in Florida

The man photographed toting a lectern from the office of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) during the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol is now running for local office in Florida, according to election records.

Records show Adam Johnson, a Republican, filed to run for an at-large seat on the Manatee County Commission on Tuesday, the fifth anniversary of the attack. Manatee County is located near Tampa Bay, Fla.

Johnson’s campaign website states that he is running to “bring MAGA principles to county government and root out the corruption that’s been costing you money and destroying our quality of life.”

He is expected to face at least four other candidates, all of whom are Republicans.
