Ga state Senate trying to outlaw abortion

I just received an email newsletter from my right wing state senator, and see that they've passed a bill which would prevent the State Health Benefit Plan (the health insurance provided to all state and municipal employees including all school system employees in Georgia) from paying for abortions. So the bottom line of this is that if my wife or daughter were to be raped we'd be on our own paying to terminate a pregnancy.

Here's an excerpt:

One of the most impassioned debates of the week came on Wednesday with SB 438.
This bill seeks to prohibit the primarily taxpayer-funded State Health Benefit Plan
from providing abortion coverage. In 2012, the State of Georgia will insure over
672,000 state employees, school system employees, retirees and dependents. It is
irresponsible for our state to force taxpayers to fund such a reprehensible procedure.
SB 438 removes any potential ambiguity in the State Health Benefit Plan requirements by
clearly stating that abortions are not an approved procedure. The bill passed with
a vote of 33 to 18.
