State house looking at returning to session June 11

Leadership in the Georgia House of Representatives is looking at returning to session in June to satisfy its one legal requirement — to pass a state budget.

“(House Speaker David Ralston) has proposed Thursday, June 11,” said Kaleb McMichen, spokesman for Ralston’s office. “The lieutenant governor has not decided one way to another we haven’t heard from them yet.”

Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan must give his thumbs up before the date is official, McMichen said.

Both houses of the state legislature have been suspended since March 13, leaving the regular business of passing bills and negotiating next year’s budget in stasis.
