Voter registration deadline for Georgia primary is Monday
POLITICS May 06, 2020
By Mark Niesse, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Georgia's voter registration deadline is Monday for those who want to participate in the June 9 primary election for president, Congress and the General Assembly.

Roughly 1 million Georgians over 18 years old aren’t yet registered but could sign up in time. There are already about 7.2 million registered voters in the state.
More than 1.1 million voters have requested absentee ballots so far. In addition, polls will be open for three weeks of early voting starting May 18 and on election day June 9.

To be eligible to register to vote in Georgia, you must be a citizen, legal resident and more than 17 1/2 years old (though you can’t vote until you’re 18). In addition, you can’t be serving a sentence for conviction of a felony involving moral turpitude or found mentally incompetent by a judge.

Georgians can check their registration status, request an absentee ballot, view sample ballots and find voting locations at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov.

How to register to vote in Georgia

Check whether you’re already registered online at www.mvp.sos.ga.gov

Register to vote online if you have a valid Georgia driver’s license or identification card at registertovote.sos.ga.gov

Print and mail a voter registration application if you don’t have a Georgia driver’s license or state ID. Paper applications can be printed from the Georgia Secretary of State Office’s website at sos.ga.gov/admin/files/GA_VR_APP_2019.pdf. Registration forms are also available at county elections offices.

It’s important to know that you can request an absentee ballot to vote by mail or you can vote in person. I automatically got an absentee ballot application in the mail. I filled it out, took a picture of it and emailed the picture to my local board of elections. Within a minute, I got a reply that my application had been received, would be checked for completeness, and I would be notified if it was incomplete. Otherwise, my ballot will be sent to me. There’s a website where you can track your application and status.

GOTV Georgia! Find unregistered voters and help them register. Thanks to COVID19, it’s never been easier to do! Everyone is eligible to vote by mailing in an absentee ballot!

Keep in mind that Gov. KKKemp spent years purging voters when he was GA Secretary of State. CottonBear May 2020 #2
True but these don't seem like purging numbers just voters who haven't registered yet jimfields33 May 2020 #3

And only 1.1 million out of 7.2 million voters requested absentees? Why am I not impressed.

His successor as Secretary of State has continued the voter roll purging.

Also keep in mind that Abrams only lost the last Gubernatorial election by about 50,000 votes. Kemp was Secretary of State while running for Governor. He was purging all along.

Add in unsecured electronic voting machines and many fewer polling places in minority areas, and you can see how the GOP keeps control.
