4 Counties Sued For Trying To Rig Georgia Senate Runoffs By Not Providing Early Voting

Lawsuits were filed by the New Georgia Project against Bibb, Clarke, Houston, and Paulding Counties for illegally not offering early voting.

The lawsuits were filed by Marc E. Elias on behalf of the New Georgia Project against the four counties because each of them has no intention of offering early voting on the legally required days.

I am ashamed of Bibb, my home county of birth, and a solidly Democratic county. There’s no excuse for that county NOT to offer early voting for the run-off election.

Clarke stuns me. That county is the home of the University of Georgia, and it’s 70-30 Democratic.

Houston is the home of Robins AFB. With a population over 100,000 (it’s directly south of Macon/Bibb), and it’s 60-40 Republican.

Paulding is (now) suburban Atlanta and is about 50-50.

This is a strange combination of counties to have chosen to eliminate early voting. Budgetary concerns are what I imagine drove these decisions.

Georgia is not a red state. It’s a voter suppressed state. We’re in the twilight zone, where GOTV is wrong.
