Georgia
Related: About this forumQuestion about being eligible to vote in Ga
My daughter is working in GA as a travel medical professional. Honestly, she has pretty much moved there to live with her girlfriend, but is only making the decision to stay 1 contract at a time. She has been there 23 weeks working and another month before the first contract started. She has her next contract lined up and expects to take another contract after that. She keeps her base here with me and swaps her clothes out as needed because they only have a small 1 bedroom and also she needs her base here to qualify for the travel stipend. Could she vote in GA even if she may not be a lifelong resident?

(919 posts)You are a Georgia resident if you've lived in the state for 183 or more days in a calendar year.

(23 posts)Especially if you consider the months before she actually got her medical license there. She worked 3 days here then took off for a 3 hour drive to get there and was 4 days there.

(3,645 posts)I'd guess she needs a 'utility bill' in her name, and some other proof of address. I'd say applying for a State of Georgia driver's licence will be the big step, or have a passport and whatever 'proof of Georgia address' is required to register. It's tight but she has a couple of weeks until the Oct 7th voter registration deadline.

(23 posts)She does have a state medical license already. I'll see if that works.
