Told its voter initiative's Georgia registration info was wrong, Emory fails to alert students
The Emory University administration says it will send a campus-wide email to students later Thursday after a reporter pointed out prior incorrect guidance provided by the Emory Voter Initiative about registering to vote in time for Georgias November election.
The email will contain additional information, Luke Anderson, Emory vice president of communications and marketing, wrote in an email to the Georgia Recorder Thursday morning after a reporter sent an email to Emorys president Wednesday night to confirm that the school knew its Emory Votes Initiative had advised students for weeks to register using the main campus address instead of dorm street addresses.
However, as of 10 p.m. Thursday night, the school administration had not emailed students advising them that if they registered using the main campus address instead of their specific dorm each individuals right to vote in November could be successfully challenged at the polls. Instead, the school emailed students that they could ask the schools voter resource officials if they had questions about their voter registration without explaining that many students were given wrong information by Emory officials.
The message comes on the heels of the Recorders Monday reporting on the misinformation given to Emory student voters.
