Idaho Senate approves constitutional ban on legal marijuana

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Expressing firm opposition to dozens of states that have legalized marijuana in recent years, the Idaho Senate on Wednesday approved a proposed constitutional amendment that would prohibit the legalization of pot and other psychoactive drugs in the state.

The Republican-dominated Senate just barely mustered the two-thirds needed to pass the measure with a 24-11 vote.

If the House approves the legislation with the required two-thirds majority, it would go before voters to decide in 2022, where it would need a simple majority.

Republicans have super-majorities in the two chambers. Some Republican senators said they voted in favor of the amendment to simply allow voters to decide.

then it will require a two-thirds super-majority in both Houses and the governor's signature to override it in the future.

This 3 to 4 months in the spring when the legislature is in session is always a nailbiter and I think there's more coming down the pike yet. More and more, for the last 10-15 years they've been trying to muck with the Constitution.

And folks with Oregon and Washington license plates will get pulled over as much as those with California plates.

and then they will notice that all the states that stopped being stupid are amassing surpluses and getting infrastructure repaired and education advanced.

And, they won't care... until someone tells them some figures. Then , they will be climbing all over themselves to repeal it. And, when that time comes... I hope they can't do it. Then, the exodus will begin. They won't like that very much. My hometown looks like something out of a horror movie thanks to stupid rethugs lining their pockets while everything crumbles around them. The good people of Idaho won't like this. I hope they can do something about it.
