More Idahoans are using ivermectin to treat COVID-19. Officials warn it could be dangerous

Treasure Valley pharmacists and officials are seeing more doctors prescribe ivermectin to treat and prevent COVID-19, going against the recommendations of federal and worldwide health officials, who say doing so can be dangerous.

The search for available ivermectin has even driven some to use animal versions of the product and hunt for physicians willing to prescribe it.

Ivermectin was first created in Japan in the 1970s and became known as a highly effective anti-parasitic drug. It’s been used across the world to treat a variety of diseases, including parasitic worms and head lice.

Recently, though, it’s been touted as an effective treatment against COVID-19, reportedly reducing the death and hospitalization rates in sick patients.

To get rid of worms.

It's just amazing they think that vaccines are dangerous, but horse pills are great.

A woman, who was probably about 30, was talking to the pharmacist (unfortunately you can overhear everything in this store.) She was picking up a prescription for ivermectin. The pharmacist was telling her that ivermectin is the generic version. Apparently the "doctor" prescribed a name brand and the generic was cheaper. I thought to myself, who the hell is prescribing this crap for humans?

Then she asked if she cold get a COVID test in the store.

You know what else she could get in the store? A damn vaccine!

that handled raccoons and she used it once a month in case of the nasty worms they carry. Just a squirt on her finger and licked it off.

The RWNJ sites are really pushing this quack cure. This medicine is for horse deworming

Ivermectin, the latest supposed treatment for COVID-19 being touted by anti-vaccination groups, had “no effect whatsoever” on the disease, according to a large patient study.

That’s the conclusion of the Together Trial, which has subjected several purported nonvaccine treatments for COVID-19 to carefully designed clinical testing. The trial is supervised by McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, and conducted in Brazil.....

Among the 1,500 patients in the study, he said, Ivermectin showed “no effect whatsoever” on the trial’s outcome goals — whether patients required extended observation in the emergency room or hospitalization.

“In our specific trial,” he said, “we do not see the treatment benefit that a lot of the advocates believe should have been” seen.....

The findings on Ivermectin are yet another blow for advocates promoting the drug as a magic bullet against COVID-19. Ivermectin was developed as a treatment for parasitical diseases, mostly for veterinarians, though it’s also used against some human parasites.

Apparently some doctors are prescribing it for humans. That doesn't mean it's FDA-approved for treating COVID. Makes me wonder what kind of "doctor" is prescribing it. There are plenty of quacks around.
