Deal paves way for attempt at new Downtown Boise stadium
St. Lukes Health System has agreed to terms to sell 11 acres on the corner of Americana Boulevard and Shoreline Drive in Downtown Boise to Greenstone Properties, a development company whose managing principal, Chris Schoen, is the managing partner for the company that owns the Boise Hawks, the team announced Monday.
The parties didnt release the terms of the deal.
Greenstone hopes to build a stadium on four of those acres and residential, office, retail and parking space, as well as, potentially, a hotel on the other seven. The Hawks, the Treasure Valleys only minor league baseball team, would be the stadiums primary tenant. A minor-league soccer team also might play there, as could Boise State University teams. The stadium also could serve as a venue for events such as concerts and festivals.
The St. Lukes-Greenstone deal isnt final. St. Lukes spokeswoman Anita Kissee described it as a non-binding letter of intent. A lot of details, such as the fine print of the land acquisition, which government bodies would invest in the stadium and the exact shape and location of each piece of the project, have to be worked through.
