Sad : Wilder / Homedale Holiday giving tree
At Pauls Market in Homedale, there is one of these trees with paper ornaments. Each ornament has a description of an anonymous needy child, and what they want for Christmas.
Those who wish to give, take an ornament, and buy a new gift for the anomymous child described.
I'm kind of a loner , single , a spinster lesbian, with no local family. I have a job. I am SO fortunate.
I took an ornament for a 15 year old boy who wants a basketball.
I have a boy this Christmas!
I got into the spirit of the season finding MY BOY a new pro quality leather ball. I want MY BOY to have a really great Christmas. The best Christmas ! So onto the ball , I taped an envelope containing a gift certificate for basketball shoes . My boy is going to knock em dead at Homedale High school with his dazzling Kicks!
I wrapped the gift, thinking about 15 year old boys. They're almost not kids. It may be his last chance to be a boy . I want my boy to know, as he becomes a man , that the world is loving and kind.
Dec 16 is the deadline to get those presents back to the Giving tree, to be distributed to the recipients.
On the evening of Dec 16, I placed my boy's excellent gift onto the stack at Paul's market. I'm imagining how he's gonna LOVE those shoes!
I was as fully happy as a 15 year old with a new ball and basketball shoes!
Then , Total buzz kill.
I see the Giving Tree. ALMOST ALL of its ornaments STILL dangling from its branches.
Each ornament represents a real child who will not get a present this Christmas.
Most of the remaining ornaments were for children ages 12-15.
The deadline for giving has been extended.
I took another couple of ornaments.
I've called a few locals that I think are generous, to tell them . I think they will respond by buying a present for a boy or girl.
It is a bad year for a lot of our neighbors.
Please , Idahoans, give what you can. ....and if you need any ideas , theres this tree at Pauls Market in Homedale.
I bet theres one in your neighborhood as well.
