(Disclaimer- I know and like Dick Durbin. The only time I have found major fault with him was when he caved into pressure when he was complaining about torture committed by the CIA and US troops. If he had stood tall, perhaps some of the worst parts of the Cheney Bush Admin could have been reversed or slowed)
Dick is one smart, knowledgable, and professional person. Any state would be lucky to have him.
Oberwurst? I'll bet he doesn't even know how to milk a cow. Once he inherited his family fortune in milk and ice cream, I doubt that he even knew which end of the cow to milk.
Oberwurst came out fighting, but mostly he seemed to be trying to explain why he had no answer, while Durbin was directly answering tough questions, with well thought out explanations.

(24,838 posts)olberweiss to get anywhere. I do think we will have a new governor soon. The "every major paper endorses me" ad is brutal.

(20,805 posts)I still think that Pat Quinn will be our future governor, he just has to keep hitting Mitt Rauner where it hurts...the fact that he is an unethical, lying manipulative scumbag..

(24,838 posts)and I'm in Chicago. I have a very bad feeling about the governor's race. Also have to consider that rauner is getting a decent percentage of the black vote in Chicago.
Stellar
(5,644 posts)Rauner bought their support...the times is in deep financial trouble.
This was all Quinn won in 2010. All he has to do is repeat it.

In fact, all he has to do is get big numbers in Cook County again, and he'd win.

(20,805 posts)...his political opinion sways whichever way the right-wing breeze blows...he was pro-choice until he was attacked for that, now he's a Tea-publican...he will do and say whatever he thinks will get him elected...and at the end of the day he's doing this for his own ego and nothing else...
He didn't inherit the milk business, he paid his uncle for it...and yes, you're probably right he wouldn't know the business of a cow if it came up and crapped on him...

(4,473 posts)When Jim Ryan quit the U.S. Senate race in 2004, Oberweis, who had come in second in the Republican primary, expected to be put up in his place. However, Topinka said essentially, "Over my dead body." Since she was the head of the Illinois Republican Party at the time, she got her way. Oberweis loves her as much as she loves him.

(20,805 posts)...for crying out loud how many times did he run for various offices before finally winning one as a state senator, three, four? It was getting so laughable that the joke was he couldn't even get elected as Town Dog Catcher in North Aurora...
There's no way he beats Dick Durbin in November...no way at all...
